The Short Version
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. It’s how a lot of this site’s content gets funded, and it doesn’t change what we recommend.
The Slightly Longer Version
Sticks & Sparks is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites. We may also participate in similar affiliate programs with other retailers or brands from time to time.
In plain terms: when we mention a specific tent, griddle, knife, or piece of gear and link out to where you can buy it, that link is sometimes an affiliate link. If you click through and make a purchase — of that item or, in some cases, anything else during that shopping session — we may receive a small commission from the retailer. This comes at no additional cost to you; the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or not.
How This Affects (and Doesn’t Affect) What We Recommend
We only recommend gear we’d genuinely suggest to a friend, whether or not an affiliate link is attached to it. Commission potential doesn’t determine what makes it onto this site — usefulness for actual families doing actual camping, hiking, and outdoor cooking does. If something doesn’t hold up, we’ll say so, commission or not.
How to Tell When a Link Is an Affiliate Link
Posts that contain affiliate links include a short note near the top of the article letting you know. We also try to keep language around product recommendations straightforward, so it’s clear when we’re pointing you toward something specific versus just discussing a general category of gear.
